AFSC Emergency and Material Assistance Program has extended the deadline to April 30, 2003 for Health Kits for Iraq. Since June, 2002, we have been working, in cooperation with other international aid agencies, on a contingency plan for Iraq. This resulted in the shipment of three 40 foot containers to Jordan. The containers are filled with health kits, school kits and blankets to be distributed by the AFSC regional staff and the other agencies with local organizations. You can help by assembling kits in your church or Meeting. For more information: oibrahem@afsc.org.

Mothers Day Declaration. An international conference to bring attention to the AIDS problem in Africa will be held in South Africa on Mother's Day, May 11. Delegates must raise their own money to attend and if from the developed world, must bring additional funds to help support orphanages set up to care for children of AIDS victims. The Iraq War Science Project by Glen Anderson: glen@olywa.net. This is an experiment to illustrate the unintended consequences of the war. It is a simple and dramatic tool which can be used in many different settings. Glen says: "Kids, please DO try this at home! And show it to your friends, your congresspersons, and your newspaper editors!"
