Committees and their Responsibilities
Ministry and Care Committee
(3-year term with no more than two consecutive terms. Youth representative serves a 1-year term.)
Traits of members:
Recognized by many for a life guided by the Spirit of Christ, discernment, sound judgment, and faithfulness.
Affirms Friends' faith and practice.
A desire to be a servant leader.Areas of responsibility for committee members:
1. Helps all persons find acceptance, loving care and opportunity for service among Friends.
2. Provides spiritual nurture and oversight to each of the church's ongoing ministries.
3. Encourage, admonish, council, and "elder" all within the meeting.
4. Supports, prays for, and holds the pastor and committee clerks accountable.
Peace and Social Concerns Committee
(3-year term with no more than two consecutive terms)
Traits of committee members:
Spiritual awareness
Affirms Friends' faith and practice
Knowledgeable of Quaker peace testimony
A passion for peace and social issues
A good listener
A desire to serveAreas of responsibility for committee members:
1. Help to Foster education in the meeting for all ages regarding our Friends peace testimony.
1. Provide support and counsel to our youth about conscientious objection to war.
3. Organize and plan ongoing peace events in the Meeting.
4. Educate the Monthly Meeting on ways we can support social justice issues both locally and globally.
Make suggestions for concrete action items on a regular basis to the meeting.5. Propose a budget to the Monthly Meeting annually.
Stewardship Committee
(3-year term with no more than two consecutive terms)
Traits of committee members:
Seeks to be a good steward of time, talents and resources
Affirms Friends' faith and practice
Able to follow through on tasks
A good listener
A desire to serveAreas of responsibility for committee members:
1. Organizes the care of all church properties, including arranging for custodial services, securing and maintaining
adequate insurance, and establishing policies about the use of church facilities.2. Helps prepare the annual budget in collaboration with the administrative team consisting of the Presiding Clerk,
Social Concerns Clerk, Committee for Ministry and Care Clerk, and the pastor.3. Supervises and assists the treasurer and provides for regular audit of the books.
4. Helps promote education for the Meeting in the stewardship of time, talents and money.
