Scriptures for Cultivating the Habit of Prayer:
Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers
offered in this place.
2 Chronicles 6:40 (NIV)
God is there, listening for all who pray, for all who pray and mean it.
Psalm 145:18 (The Message)
But I cry to you for help, LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before
you.
Psalm 88:13 (NIV)
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left
the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
Mark 1:35 (NIV)
Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came
to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses.
But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Luke 5:15,16 (NIV)
Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions
with all kinds of prayers
and requests.
With this in mind, be alert
and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for
this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door
will be opened to you.
Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God
know your concerns.
Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together
for good, will come and settle you down.
It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your
life.
Philippians 4:6,7 (The Message)
Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right
alongside helping us along.
If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying
in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans.
He knows us far better than we know ourselves, and keeps us present before
God.
That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God
is worked into something good.
Romans 8:26-28 (The Message)
