Discernment in the Tough Decisions
Queries for Discussion
When we are faced with the tough decisions of life, there are often feelings of sorrow, anger, joy, excitement, jealousy, revenge and usually the pressure of short time frames. Think of a time when you had a hard decision to make, and recall what that felt like.
Did you intentionally seek or include God in the process of making this tough decision? Why? or Why not? If yes, how did you include God? How did it turn out? Was there evidence that God was involved? If you did not seek God, how did it go? Is it possible that God shows up anyway? Is it possible to invite God into our struggle and not have things turn out the way that we want them to?
Is it possible to separate our feelings and emotions from what is going on in order to listen and seek input from God? What are some ways to do this? What are some ways that God shows up (through friends/relatives?, through nature?, through music?, through reading?, through preaching?) ?
Do you think that God cares about our troubles and struggles? If he cares, why do you think that he allows bad stuff to happen to good people?
What does the issue of control have to do with making decisions and discerning what is right?
